Something for the Weekend: Inspiration & Fun Links

I’ve actually managed to get a lot done this week considering how bad I feel. I ventured into our storage unit and retrieved all the things I no longer need to keep and listed them on Ebay. It feels really good to purge and the extra money helps as I’ve been off work six weeks now and am wondering how to pay bills if this continues to stretch out like it appears it’s going to. It’s something I can do mostly from bed … so at least while I’m resting I’m being productive! (And I get to cross things off my to-do list, which makes me insanely happy … I know, I’m a little weird!).

So, what’s caught my eye this week?

  • Read this great post by Living with Me about Blogging with a Chronic Illness. Amy writes about how she finds it therapeutic and I have to agree with her – she makes a lot of very valid points.
  • Listed a ridiculous amount of stuff on eBay – everything from fabric to Pyrex that has been sitting unused in my storage unit for years. Check out my listings here. Feels so good to be getting rid of stuff that we’ve just been paying to store month after month.
  • Found the perfect vintage chair – blue velvet upholstery and thumb tack detailing along the arms that is going to be perfect in my studio – and it was less than $25! Bonus, it’s light enough that I can lift it and it fits in the back of the SUV with the child seat still in place so it’ll be perfect for dragging to photo locations when I’m up to it. I’m picturing pictures like these:

  • Loving all the dresses from Denof10Bears on eBay … they’re beautiful and perfect for photos! I’m loving this one for Hannah!
  • Looking forward to shooting my first senior pictures in a while … pinning ideas on my Senior Photography Pinterest board.
  • Thinking of picking up this Canon Speedlite for my camera. I bought an off-brand flash for super cheap and it’s true, you get what you pay for. I’ve been very unhappy with it and think this is one of those times it’s worth paying a little more for a reputable brand and one that is designed to work with my camera.
  • Creative Live is offering a free live-streaming class on Capturing Authentic Photos of Children and Families today and I’m hoping to catch it if I have time. Starts today at 9 a.m.
  • Thinking of adding this roll of Savage seamless background paper to my backdrop collection … love the color and Savage just can’t be beat when it comes to background paper for photographers and the 54-inch roll is only $34.96 for 12 yards.
  • I cleaned up my Flickr account and joined a bunch of new photography groups … there’s tons of inspiration to be found there!

So, what’s caught your eye this week – share some inspiration with me by dropping me a comment!

Thank you … I’m in love with the chair! I’ve made quite a bit of money on ebay in the two weeks I’ve been selling … it’s all stuff I didn’t need anyway, so feels good to purge too.

Love this. Creativity is a great thing. Been working on Pinning “Party” ideas most of the weekend. We will have 2 -13yr olds this month eeeek.

I absolutely adore that chair!! I have always been obsessed with the vintage style furniture. They look so cute in their dresses sitting there.
