Something for the Weekend – Inspiration & Fun Links!

I hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day or at least got out and enjoyed the weather/had some adventures last weekend!

It seems my Something for the Weekend posts have turned into life updates of sorts as I’ve been unable to find the energy to blog during the week the past few weeks. Sorry about that you guys! I miss it and the community that comes with it – sharing in my Facebook groups and reading other’s posts, learning about their lives and new great ideas to try …

Since last week, nothing has really changed. I am still unable to eat solid food without being in great pain, so I’ve been living off water, Coke, and Ensure/Boost to get the calories and nutrients I need. I’m fortunate I’m able to keep that down with nausea meds and I count that as a blessing. I haven’t had to go to the clinic or hospital for IV fluids this week, so that is also a blessing. My endoscopy biopsies came back normal, which means I don’t have an infection or any sensitivities. It also means there is a greater likelihood that this is either my gallbladder or gastroparesis. I’m having an ultrasound of my gallbladder today and we’ll see what it shows. Next week Tuesday, I have a nuclear med gastric emptying study, which is a 3-4 hour test that measures how food travel through your stomach and will either confirm or rule out gastroparesis. Right now, given the prognosis of both, I’m hoping it’s my gallbladder. I’ve done a lot of research on gastroparesis and it would be a debilitating disease to have to live with. I went yesterday afternoon to have my blood tested for thyroid antibodies to confirm that my hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s, which is an auto-immune disease and could be the cause of some of my GI issues. I’m waiting on those results now.

On the bright side, I’ve managed to lose all the extra weight (about 20 lbs.) I’d been carrying around the last two years since Ella was born and fit in all my old clothes again. My stomach is nice and flat and I’m even contemplating putting my navel ring back in after my test Tuesday! (Always trying to find the positives…)

I did try out my new Canon 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens and got a nice shot (above) of some flowers my co-worker Sarah dropped off along with dinner last weekend. I can’t wait to start feeling better and start learning the ins and outs of my new camera and have the chance to play with this lens some more!

So, what’s caught my eye this week:

  • Signed up for this website Squijoo, which offers tons of photographer resources like advertising materials, overlays, actions, presets and more for $10/mo. with unlimited downloads!
  • Received this beautiful pink dress in the mail for Hannah for some photo shoots I have planned. It was under $8 shipped! Ebay can’t be beat for inexpensive dresses and rompers perfect for photos – it’s my go-to source now!
  • Also got this beautiful gray dress in the mail for Ella for some pictures as well – it was also under $8!
  • I also love Posh Peanut on Etsy for baby/children dresses – they’re well-made and gorgeous (I’ve used them before in photos of my girls!).
  • Working on a round-up of newborn photography props you can purchase with your Amazon Prime account. Looking at adding some stock to my studio so that when I feel up to taking some clients, I have props to work with!
  • Creative Market has a great photography WordPress theme in their free goods of the week – if you’re looking for a new WordPress theme, this is great and could work for a fashion/lifestyle blog too!
  • Planning on cleaning up the girls room and organizing their clothes. This article on 5 of the Best Kids Clothing Organization Tips and Tricks is where I’m going to start!

This weekend I have my son and I was really hoping to get some nice family pictures but I think it’s going to be too cold – only about 60 degrees in Wisconsin and raining on Saturday. I’m going to continue to rest up and try and reduce my stress as much as possible …

Leave me a comment and let me know what’s inspired you this week. What are your plans for the weekend?

Thank you! Thanks for stopping by! No shame in still having the baby weight … I wasn’t trying to lose it, I kinda wore it like a badge of honor if you know what I mean 🙂 Be proud – you grew a whole new human being and that’s awesome!
