Something for the Weekend: Inspiration & Fun Links!

It’s been a good – but fast – week around here! Saturday Mike and I took the girls to Discovery World and had a great time. This was the first time Ella was really old enough to remember it and it was so awesome to see the awe on her face as she looked at one new thing after another. Her favorite things were the fish and the sea horses! She’s been asking to go back every day since. We bought a year-long family membership, so I see lots of trips in our future!

I made a good dent cleaning around the house this week, which also felt awesome. The boys room is completely clean, which if you have teenagers, you know how rare that is! I also tackled most of the basement and made sense of a lot of the boxes we’d brought back from out storage unit to go through and decide what we’re keeping, donating and throwing away. There’s something really satisfying about tangible progress. And crossing things off your to-do list (I’m a huge sucker for that!).

I’m working this weekend – a four-day stretch – so I’ll be missing out on family time. I did take a new position at my current job which should be a little bit better for family life – instead of working 12 night shifts per month, I’m moving to a rotating day/night position of 10 shifts per month. I’ll be working six weeks on day shift and then six weeks on night shift. I’m excited as it’s one step closer to day shift hours, which is wear I would like to end up as it’s best for our family life.

So, what’s caught my eye this week:

  • I’ve always wanted to know more about editing using frequency separation in Photoshop and found this great tutorial that really explained it well. (Bonus, it also comes with a free frequency separation action, which is awesome!).
  • And I don’t know where I’ve been but I just discovered this great Photoshop website Phlearn, full of tutorials on everything you’d want to know about editing in PS!
  • Been eyeing these awesome white and gold New Balance shoes for J. Crew and finally caved and bought them this week after they were back in stock!
  • And I don’t know where I’ve been but I just discovered Poshmark – having so much fun browsing all the awesome finds … looking for a military style jacket and some kicks for Ella!
  • Ordered a second Parsons Desk to set up a second editing station so I can learn to edit with my Wacom tablet, something I’ve been wanting to try for a while!
  • Starting to devour this book: The Awakened Family: How to Raise Empowered, Resilient, and Conscious Children. Hannah is reaching that pre-teen stage faster than I’d like and I want to step up my parenting game. This book came highly recommended by a number of moms in my birth group with Ella from 2015!

Drop me a comment and let me know what inspired you this week – I love connecting with you!
