Something for the Weekend: Inspiration & Fun Links!

OK you guys … this image I took Tuesday was just too cute not to share with you all! I had the opportunity to shoot some 8-month photos of this beautiful chunky little girl Haddie, who I helped deliver last Christmas Eve. I ran into her mom this summer and offered a shoot to her because it just felt right and I couldn’t get enough of her cheeks! We met up Tuesday evening and got some quick shots in the studio before heading out to the lake for family photos. I’m still working on editing those!

And … this is my amazing Goodwill vintage prop find of the year – this pink velvet chair I scored last Friday evening for $19.99. The wood was a dark color, but I wanted to give it a little more pop, so I painted it out champagne gold and love the way it turned out! My husband might have looked at me a little strange when I came home and told him I’d bought yet another vintage velvet chair … and rolled his eyes a little when I told him it was pink, but he took me back to the store and picked it up for me (now that’s love you guys!).

This week Hannah has been at my parent’s house in Madison, enjoying some time with them like she does every summer. I’ve been using that little bit of extra free time I’ve had to do really fun things like scrub the girls room from top to bottom and organize all of their clothes so I can see what they need for the school year. Sounds like a really great time, right? I’ve also been cleaning up the basement and getting things organized. Strangely, I rather enjoy cleaning and organizing … there’s something satisfying about putting everything in it’s designated space and seeing everything neat and tidy!

Next week I go back to work – very part-time – and I’m looking forward to that. We also don’t have any daycare next week, so I’ll have all three kiddos home with me during the day. Isaac is busy with pep band practice and cross country practice, so he’s gone most of every weekday, but the girls and I will have to find some fun things to do out and about!

So, what’s inspired me this week? Let’s take a look:

  • I finally bought some great photography business accounting software (link here) and am starting to fill in everything since I started my business this year. I’ve organized all my receipts by month, now I just have to put them all into spreadsheets (not so fun).
  • Blurb has their photo books 35% off with code TAKE35 through Aug. 24. I have a milestone book of Ella’s first year I’ve been making forever and need to finish it up and get it printed (yes, I know she’s 2.5 now!).
  • Made a run to Hobby Lobby last weekend and picked up some great ivory fur fabric and crushed pink velvet fabric to make pillows out of from their fall fabric collection (I had tons of pillow forms in our storage unit so I picked those up too). I’ll be working on sewing them this weekend!
  • Ordering more Lexar 32GB Professional SD cards – I lost my spare and these are so fast, I love shooting with them!
  • Check out this Easy, Must-Have List of Affiliates for Any Blogger – I use Amazon Affiliates, but there were others on there I’d never heard of!
  • Loved this brutally honest post We Have to Talk About The Hard Parts by Becky of A Reformed Hot Mess. I’ve always been about keeping it real on here and I love sharing other bloggers who aren’t afraid to do the same.
  • Cleaned up the massive amount of photos on my computer this week. I used my How to Organize your Digital Photos method and cleaned 100 GB of space off my MacBook Pro’s hard drive! I back everything up onto two 1 TB external drives and also to Dropbox.

What’s inspired you this week? Drop me a comment and let me know or just tell me what your plans are for one of the last weekends of the summer!

She is such a cutie and what a nice thing you did for this mama! I am new to affiliate programs but quickly learning and signing up for them. I did a bunch of organizing before my girls went back to school too! I hope your kiddos have a good school year!
