Something for the Weekend: Inspiration & Fun Links!

It’s already time for my Something for the Weekend post! This week has been a productive one. My trip down to visit my parents last weekend went well. I was a little nervous as it was my first time traveling since getting sick in April, but it felt good to get out of the house and have a change of scenery for once. I also got my letter from my GI doc, allowing me to return to work very part-time on the 21st of this month! I’m super excited to get back into labor and delivery as I love my job and have missed it so much these past four months. They’re excited to have me back which makes it even nicer!

I’m traveling to the halfway point between my house and my parents this afternoon and dropping all three kids off with grandma and grandpa for the weekend. My husband is going up north to do work on our cabin, so it’ll just be me this weekend until I pick the kids up Sunday night. I almost don’t know what to do with all that free time … but I have a huge to-do list so I’ll probably enjoy sleeping at least one day, then tackle it head on!

I booked a last minute senior photo shoot early in the morning tomorrow, so tonight I’ll be prepping for that. Chatted with my senior girl via Facebook a few days ago and just love her personality (she’s stunning too!) so I think it will be a fun shoot and I’m really looking forward to it and editing all the photos afterward.

So, what’s inspiring me this week?

  • Got a great deal on Clickin’ Mom’s 2016 video bundle of classes for photographers. It’s normally $275 which is out of my price range. However, they offered a great promo code: CLICKAWAY90 for 90% off the bundle. Yes, you read that right – that meant it was only $27 for more than 10 hours of instructional videos on running a photography business, editing galleries and posing newborns, children and families.
  • Purchased two beautiful flotaki rugs for the studio, in taupe and pink from Overstock – this one and this one. They’ll arrive the day before my next shoot, so I’m excited to try them out in the studio!
  • I also found two adorable lens buddies (the crazy looking fabric/crocheted creatures that go over your camera lens to keep a child’s attention). I bought this one and this one from Etsy. I’m really hoping they work – I’ll let you know after next week!
  • I’m lusting after all the beautiful Trish Scully girl’s clothing available on eBay. Haven’t found one I’m willing to pay top dollar for yet, but I’m sure it’s a matter of time! Have I mentioned recently that I love having little girls to dress up?
  • I had a ton of energy Monday morning and went out to our storage unit and grabbed some lumbar, hit up Home Depot and Joanns for the rest of my supplies and built a large teepee in the backyard for the girls. (See Ella enjoying it above!) They loved it! I followed this tutorial here.
  • Bought these great soft white string lights from Amazon for an upcoming photo shoot – bonus, they’re battery powered!
  • Lots of great tips on How to Make Housework Fun from Also Known As Mama. Especially if you have kids!
  • Very true – 9 Things to Always Buy at a Thrift Store by Christina at From Under a Palm Tree. I love shopping thrift stores … it’s like a mini treasure hunt every time!
  • I needed to test out my Savage Seamless Paper backdrop in Bone for next week’s shoot and Hannah didn’t want to cooperate with me, so I took the opportunity to dress up and strike a few poses … very good for the self-esteem after being sick for so long and getting used to life in this new, complicated body of mine. Check them out here!

Drop me a comment and let me know what’s inspired you this week or what your weekend plans are – I love connecting with all of you!
