2wenty Thr3e Pillow – Finished!

Yesterday was my scheduled day off, and the perfect day to stay inside and work at the machine. Our wind chills were hovering around -40 degrees most of the day! I finished piecing the back with leftover blocks from the front and added a complimentary solid color. It has an invisible zipper along the bottom, which I much prefer over envelope backs. The pillow ended …

Color Palette – Zinna

Zinna Color Palette I’ve been thinking a lot about color palettes and how we choose fabrics for our projects. I’ve created a Photoshop template that will let me highlight color palettes I find intriguing each week. I hope you enjoy and find some inspiration in them.

2wenty Thr3e Pillows

I recently bought a new sectional for our home (after our other sectional wouldn’t fit through the door!). It’s a chocolate brown color, and huge – as in takes up most of our living room. But it gives us plenty of space for our family of five to sit and enjoy movie nights and spend time together. Every new couch needs some new pillows, right? …

Progress on Refracted quilt

See that, right there above, that’s the trimmings of 25 16-inch finished blocks for my refracted quilt. I used a couple days when Hannah was at daycare and I didn’t have to work until afternoon to finish piecing the blocks. And I just trimmed them up now – what a great feeling! All that’s left now is to cut the sashing for between the blocks …

My Word for 2014 – Believe

After a great deal of thought, I’ve decided on “believe” for my word again this year. It was a powerful choice then, and I still believe in it’s power now. It’s tattooed on my wrist, actually, as a daily reminder to believe. In magic, in miracles, in myself. To believe that I will overcome depression. To believe happiness is possible. My friend Angie chose “hope” …

My skin care breakthrough

I have struggled with acne most of my life, having gone through three cycles of Accutane in my teens and twenties with mixed results. At thirty five, I’d just accepted that I’d probably always have to deal with the breakouts and uneven skin. And then I found my miracle product – Lush Let the Good Times Roll facial cleanser. The product was given to me …

Rock ‘n Romance quilt piecing

Today I pulled out an old WIP – my Rock ‘n Romance refracted quilt that I started more than 18 months ago. I immediately fell in love with this line of fabrics by Pat Bravo and bought it in every print and colorway. I wanted to make a generously sized lap quilt with it, but wanted a block that showed off the fabric well. I …

Unravelling 2014

Last weekend I downloaded this wonderful journal – Unravelling the Year Ahead 2014 – that Susannah Conway offers free on her blog each year and took it to the office store to have it bound with a cover. I devoured last year’s journal in one evening (you can read about that experience here). I came home from the office store with a pack of brand …

“This End Up” quilt

I finished sewing the binding on my quilt today and had time to snap a couple quick photos before my four-year-old daughter claimed it for herself. I’m calling it “This Side Up” because it reminds me of the large cargo shipping containers you see marked likewise. I wanted to make something simple that would show off the pattern of the vintage sheet, so I …
