Something for the weekend

Well, I started off the week on a less-than-great moment: Sunday night I fainted and hit my face on the edge of my dresser. Then, when I went downstairs to the bathroom to wash off all the blood from my nose, I fainted again and hit the back of my head on the bathtub. A head CT and dozen x-rays later, I have a broken …

Four things I’ve learned my first year as an L&D nurse

Today marks my one-year anniversary of becoming a labor and delivery RN. If you had told me when I was in nursing school that I would someday be a labor nurse, I would have laughed at you. It was never something I thought I wanted to do.

Today marks my one-year anniversary of becoming a labor and delivery RN. If you had told me when I was in nursing school that I would someday be a labor nurse, I would have laughed at you. It was never something I thought I wanted to do. I was convinced in nursing school that I wanted to be a mental health nurse because of my …

Something for the weekend

Here's a good reminder of something the world just needs a little more of right now - love. There hasn't been a lot of posting on the blog going on over here lately, unfortunately. I did manage to get my newsletter out this week, but the blog posts I'd planned still need a little tweaking before I hit publish, but I'm working on them. I have been spending a lot of time playing with my photo gear and really trying to evaluate if upgrading my camera body is something I need to do.

Something for the weekend

This week has been a little rough, I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been struggling with some depression and haven’t really done much of anything besides take care of the kids and keep the house clean. We had a nice visit with my parents on Sunday and Hannah got some much-loved roller skates for her birthday from them, along with a bunch of fun art supplies …

Deck Review: Lumina Tarot by Inner Hue

The postman brought me happy mail the other day – the Lumina Tarot deck and guidebook I’d ordered arrived from Australia! I debated for quite some time about purchasing this deck, but in the end, the cards just spoke to me. Someone I know who is very into tarot purchased this deck and failed to connect with it, eventually finding it a new home because …

What's inspiring me this week - Jennadesigns

This past week we celebrated Hannah’s birthday – she’s 8 now! We went out to eat, came home had cake and opened presents. I got Hannah the mother load of art supplies and she was thrilled. Anything to get her off the computer and be a little more creative. Fortunately, she’s loves making art (just like her mama!) so it was a huge hit. I …

30-day Mental Cleanse Challenge – Week 1 recap

The first week of the 30-day Mental Cleanse Challenge is complete! I love this sign that I have displayed in my writing nook as it reminds me that every day we have the choice to make the next a better one. And that’s what this challenge is about – making choices to make subsequent days better days. Below is a reflection of the first week …

The Wild Unknown: Death

The 13th card in The Wild Unknown tarot is Death. Death Creator’s Keywords: Closure, Transformation The Death card features a very simple and stark image – a skeleton of a decomposing baby bird, it’s white feathers lying against a black background. It really doesn’t require much description. This bird is dead, not coming back. This speaks to death being inevitable – it happens to everything …

Something for the weekend – what’s inspiring me now

You guys, it’s been five weeks now since we adopted Wally, our 9-month-old domestic short hair kitten, and I gotta say, I love this little guy! He’s been my best buddy since we took him home – he follows me all over the house like a dog, sleeps with me during the day while everyone else is gone and greets me at the door when …
