Something for the Weekend

I have had is plenty of time to browse online this week and organize my home while I recovered. Here's what's been catching my eye and what I've been up to:

This past Wednesday I underwent nasal fracture surgery to fix my broken nose. I’m a few days into my recovery and feeling better already. I’ve got a blog post on recovering from nasal surgery all ready for early next week with all my tips and tricks to make it a little easier should you be so lucky to suffer through a similar experience. My new …

How to spring clean your blog and social media sites

Now is also a great time to spring clean your blog and social media sites! I just did this last night and it felt great! Keep reading and I'll explain how.

It’s officially spring time in Wisconsin – that time of year where it’s starting to (finally) get warm out, plants are starting to come back and you can open the windows and fresh air in the house. I love this time of year! I’m looking forward to giving my home a good spring cleaning in the coming weeks. Now is also a great time to …

Full Pink Moon in Libra spread – The Lumina Tarot

Last night was a full moon - the Pink Moon in Libra. Of course, I had to pull a spread from my favorite tarot deck, the Lumina Tarot. I was curious what the cards held for me this lunar cycle. I also had a beautiful bouquet of pink roses that were just past their prime ... perfect for including in this reading.

Book Review: Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life

This last week I read Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life by Glennon Doyle Melton. What can I say? I loved this book. I felt like it really spoke to me in so many ways and on so many levels.

Sometimes at work, depending on census, we have some down time. I usually bring along my Kindle so I can do a little reading if the situation allows. This last week I read Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life by Glennon Doyle Melton. You might recognize her name from her very popular Love Warrior novel, which I had actually read …

Something for the weekend

Check out my lovely mini business cards from Moo – aren’t they great? I ordered a set of 100, each with a different image from past blog posts on them. The back side contains my website information and links to my social media accounts. Not exactly sure what I’m going to do with them, but I had a $15 off coupon, so they only …

The ultimate kid arts and crafts supply list

My daughter Hannah turned 8 years old last month. For her birthday, I assembled the ultimate arts and crafts kit for her which will hopefully inspire hours of creative fun. She is always asking to use my art supplies and loves making art with me, so I thought it would be perfect if she had her own art stash she could keep in her room.

Lens Review: Yongnuo 35mm f2 lens for Canon DSLRs

Lens Review: Yongnuo 35mm f2 lens for Canon DSLRs

Last week I picked up this great Yongnuo 35mm f2 lens for my Canon DSLR. It’s available on Amazon for only $90.98 so it was an easy choice to add to my collection. The Chinese-made lens came recommended by a number of professional photographers, including my friend Mary who uses it for all of her newborn shoots with amazing results, so I had no hesitations …

Something for the weekend

Well, I started off the week on a less-than-great moment: Sunday night I fainted and hit my face on the edge of my dresser. Then, when I went downstairs to the bathroom to wash off all the blood from my nose, I fainted again and hit the back of my head on the bathtub. A head CT and dozen x-rays later, I have a broken …

Four things I’ve learned my first year as an L&D nurse

Today marks my one-year anniversary of becoming a labor and delivery RN. If you had told me when I was in nursing school that I would someday be a labor nurse, I would have laughed at you. It was never something I thought I wanted to do.

Something for the weekend

Here's a good reminder of something the world just needs a little more of right now - love. There hasn't been a lot of posting on the blog going on over here lately, unfortunately. I did manage to get my newsletter out this week, but the blog posts I'd planned still need a little tweaking before I hit publish, but I'm working on them. I have been spending a lot of time playing with my photo gear and really trying to evaluate if upgrading my camera body is something I need to do.
